Chris Lopez, a sales person for VRW instruments, learned of students' desire to get a science lab. These students had completed Project Breathe and were fascinated by the workings of their bodies. They pledged to be tobacco-free.
Chris Lopez was so impressed when he heard the story that he donated a microscope to that school. It is the ONLY piece of science equipment this Louisiana school has ever had.

Working toward her Girl Scout Gold Award, Amanda Steinke learned of a need in New Orleans for books. She took action by initiating a book drive in her own school district. Eventually, she collected over 5,000 books, which she cataloged and alphabetized, so the books were ready to go on the book shelves of a school in the Recovery District of New Orleans, LA. Using his truck, a local businessman volunteered to drive the books from Pennsylvania to the school.
We are proud to share this Take Action! of recovery for literacy.
